About Us

Brick Township is located within Ocean County on the Jersey Shore. It is compiled of 26 square miles and consist of over 70,000 residents within the community. The residents of the Township are protected by four Volunteer First Aid Squad and the Brick Township Police EMS twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Covering the northern district of the township and four miles of the Garden State Parkway is the Herbertsville First Aid Squad. The Squad operates by dedicated individuals who volunteer numerous hours throughout the year.

The Herbertsville First Aid Squad is a volunteer, non-profit organization which provides emergency medical services for the residents of Brick Township, New Jersey. Since the squad was founded in 1961, we have been actively responding to medical emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and contributing to the community through community education and awareness programs.

Squad members are notified by special pagers of emergencies by the Brick Township Police dispatchers, who receive 911 and other calls for help. Our on call members then drive to one of our two buildings using their personal vehicles (when seeing a blue light please yield to help save a life). Upon arrival at the station, members then respond to the scene in an ambulance. After assessing and treating priority conditions, we then transport the patient to the nearest or best suited medical facility depending on the injury or illness, often either Ocean Medical Center, Kimble Medical Center, Community Medical Center or Jersey Shore Medical Center.

As a non-profit organization, we rely on the generous contributions of our community in order to do be able to do our job.  The ever rising cost of first aid equipment, uniforms, members training, and ambulance maintenance makes this especially difficult.  As a result, we run several fund raising events annually which include a mailing campaign, gift auction, and an Easter flower sale (Please check our Events Pages to see what we're doing next).  We also run other events at various times throughout the year. Anyone interested in additional fund raising or donation information please e-mail us at HFASQUAD19@aol.com or call us at (732) 840-9116.

Currently our squad stays extremely busy within the community by participating in numerous events. You will see Herbertsville FAS standing-by  for both high schools Football games (Brick Memorial Mustangs & Brick Twp. Dragons) along with the Pee Wee football organization.  We provide coverage to Brick Townships Summerfest Concert event every July and August. We Sponsor the Brick Township FIRE/EMS Explorer Post and assist the local Boy Scout and Girl Scout groups in earning badges and first aid training along with offering training to our local businesses and residents. We demonstrate Project Crash every prom season to the High School Seniors, about the dangerous effects of Driving under the influence. We work with the local high schools sports teams and bands for coverage of school events. At the Epiphany Church Carnival every August, we attend and provide first aid. In addition, we assist Herbertsville Fire Company in their regular drills and on all of their calls. We do this all in between of answering the thousands of First Aid calls that our handled each year throughout the township by all the first aid squads.

We can provide an ambulance to stand-by or do demonstrations at local community and sporting events, free of charge.  All requests should be made 30 days in advance. More information may be obtained by calling (732) 840-9116 or e-mailing HFASQUAD19@aol.com. Please note that such requests rely on the availability of our members and consequently we may not be able to accommodate all requests.
